Our Faith, Simply Stated

At Springfield Bible Church, everything we do flows from what we believe. Our beliefs aren’t complicated or hidden — they’re grounded in the Bible, the whole Bible, as the inspired and authoritative Word of God. What follows is a summary of the core convictions that shape who we are as a congregation in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania.

Why a Small Church?

The Bible does not encourage us to seek “religion.” Rather, it commands us to follow Jesus Christ. A small, rural church is better suited for holding to the simple fundamentals of Scripture without pressure to follow a big denomination or religious political structure.

Fear (respect) of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
Proverbs 29:25
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.
Psalm 118:8

What Springfield Bible Church Believes

The essentials of the faith.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative written Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and life.

God

We believe in one God — sovereign, all-knowing, and all-powerful — who exists eternally as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death on the cross for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the Father, and His promised return in power and glory.

Humanity

We believe that all people were created in the image of God, but have sinned and fallen short of His glory. Every person is in need of salvation.

Salvation

We believe that salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. When a person trusts in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, they are born again by the Holy Spirit and become a child of God.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who convicts people of sin, leads them to repentance, empowers believers to live holy and faithful lives, and equips the church for witness and service.

The Church

We believe the Church — the body of Christ — is made up of all those who have entered into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. The local church exists to worship God, grow disciples, and make Christ known in the world.

Marriage and Family

We believe God ordained marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman for life, and that the family formed from such a union is the God-intended context for the birth and nurture of children.

We also understand that not all marriages are perfect, and there is restoration through Jesus Christ. Whether you have experienced divorce, or are struggling and need help, Jesus forgives and lifts us up. There is true hope in a difficult situation and Christian life after a failed marriage.

Eternity

We believe in the resurrection of all people — those who are saved to everlasting life with the Lord, and those who are lost to eternal separation from God.

Part of a Larger Family of Faith

Springfield Bible Church is a member congregation of the Alliance of Mennonite Evangelical Congregations (AMEC).

As a congregation, we are part of the Alliance of Mennonite Evangelical Congregations — a fellowship of Bible-believing churches committed to carrying out the Great Commission, providing mutual accountability, and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our roots go back to the first pilgrims seeking freedom to worship God freely, without government intrusion. We take seriously God’s call to live as faithful disciples of Christ in every area of life. We are committed to salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone — to the glory of God alone.
